Rod has been in legal practice for over 23 years since gaining a Bachelor of Laws, Bachelor of Arts and Graduate Certificate in Legal Practice from the University of Tasmania, his home state.

Rod is also an Accredited Family Law Specialist granted by the Law Institute of Victoria in 2005.  He is admitted to practice in the Supreme Court of Tasmania and Victoria, and also the High Court of Australia, which includes all Federal Courts.

Since moving to Melbourne in 2000, Rod has worked at a number of high profile firms specialising in Family Law. In 2007, Rod established Cornelius Family Law with the goal of providing to clients personal, accurate and specialist advice in all areas of Family Law.

Rod was for over 10 years a regular guest lecturer at the Leo Cussens Institute where he taught Family Law to law student graduates and provided Continuing Professional Development to legal practitioners and their staff in Family Law.

Rod has also presented papers to the legal profession and has been published on such topics as “Domestic Violence in Family Law Property Settlements”.

Emma Ross

Emma first commenced working at Cornelius Family Law in 2016 as a legal assistant and it was during this time that she developed an interest and passion for family law.

 

Emma graduated from Victoria University with a Bachelor of Laws in 2015 and prior to this she completed a Bachelor of International Studies also at Victoria University in 2011.

 

In December 2017, Emma was admitted to practice in the Supreme Court of Victoria and has also been admitted to practice in the High Court of Australia, which includes all Federal Courts.

Emma is a member of the Law Institute of Victoria and Family Law Section of the Law Institute of Victoria.
